customer service support, Most frequently asked questions about the Midge & mosquito killing system

  1. How does the Mosquito Killing System work?

The system creates a source of heat and CO2 in the proportions that the female blood sucking mosquito is genetically programmed to find. The MKS mimics the mosquito’s prey by producing different body signatures, such as, temperature and breathing of poultry, fowl, livestock, pets and humans. The MKS cycles every six to nine minutes producing the different body signatures.

  1. What insects will the Mosquito Killing System eradicate?

Those insects that are attracted to heat and CO2, which is primarily the female mosquito, No-See-Ums, gnats and biting flies.

  1. Does the Mosquito Killing System harm the environment in any way?

No, unlike those systems that use propane or chemicals, the MKS and its CO2 emission is like having an additional human in the yard.

  1. Does the placement of the MKS affect the results?

Yes. Mosquitoes look for the easiest source of heat and CO2, so the closer to the source of the mosquitoes, the better it works.

  1. Is it possible to control mosquitoes in an area?

Yes. Studies have shown that 90% of the biting mosquitoes live within 100 yards of where they hatch.

  1. Is the Mosquito Killing System expensive to use?

No. CO2 and electricity are the only expense to run the unit. Costs for each of these vary by market and are similar to most household appliances.

  1. How many mosquitoes will the MKS kill?

You can’t give specific numbers. The heavier the mosquito population, naturally, the more it will kill. For example, in some areas the MKS will kill 200 mosquitoes per night, in other areas the MKS will kill 15,000 mosquitoes in one night.

  1. Will the MKS kill all mosquitoes?

No. It will never kill all mosquitoes. The MKS reduces the mosquito population. For example, one mosquito can reproduce up to 7,000 offspring. So for every mosquito the MKS kills it reduces the population by 7,000 mosquitoes.

  1. How large an area will one MKS cover?

The MKS will cover an area of one-acre depending on breeding sites, shrubbery, fences, buildings, environmental changes, winds and temperatures. It could take several units to reduce the mosquito population in some areas.

  1. How is the MKS different from a bug zapper?

A bug zapper works by using light as its attractant for all types of insects including beneficial insects but very few mosquitoes. Mosquitoes are not attracted to light therefore the MKS does not use light as an attractant.

  1. What kind of mosquitoes does the MKS kill?

The MKS kills most species and has been tested worldwide.

  1. What tests have been conducted to prove the MKS kills mosquitoes?

Tests have been conducted by Dr. Larry Olsen, University of Arkansas in Jonesboro; Chris Tipping, entomologist at the University of Florida in Gainesville; and the unit is currently being tested in Australia and the U.K.

  1. What happens to the dead mosquitoes?

The mosquito carcasses fall out of the unit to the ground and are disposed of by nature. (i.e. ground insects, wind or reintroduction back into the soil)

  1. Can the photo-sensor cell be bypassed? How?

Yes. A plastic cap can be placed over the photo-sensor cell, which enables the machine to run continuously. If bypassing the photo-sensor cell the unit would need to be placed on a timer to reset the every 5 hours by turning the machine off for 2 minutes and then turning the unit back on.

  1. Does the MKS require maintenance?

No. The MKS unit is maintenance free.

  1. How long is the power supply cord? Is it grounded?

The power supply cord is 6 ft long. Yes. The power supply cord is grounded.

  1. Will the MKS harm my kids or pets?

No. The MKS is very effective and completely safe around pets, children and livestock.

  1. Where do I send the machine for service?

First contact Customer Service; then follow their instructions for service.

  1. Does the MKS have a Money-Back Guarantee?

The MKS is guaranteed to kill mosquitoes or your money back.

THE UGLY TRUTH

There are approximately 3,500 species of mosquitoes and are estimated to transmit disease to more than 700 million people annually and kills 2 million people annually. For every 1000 female mosquitoes eliminated the population is reduced by 300,000.
